It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Jean-Claude “John” Mayer, of Kitigan Zibi, who passed away at La Maison des Collines Palliative Care on February 12, 2026, at the age of 56.

He was the beloved son of the late Ethel Carle and Germain Jacko and will also be fondly remembered by his stepmother Lise Brascoupe.
John was the cherished father of Steven and Jesse-James, and the family wishes to acknowledge their mothers, Chantal and Cheryl.
He was a dear brother to Marlene (late Luc), Lorraine, and Anita (Dan), and was predeceased by his sister Ruth. He will be lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of La Maison des Collines for the compassionate care and support provided to John during his final days.

Funeral arrangements:
Mr. Mayer will rest at the Kitigan Zibi Funeral Parlour, where visitation will be held:
• Monday, February 16, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The interment will be held at a future day.

As expressions of sympathy, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the La Maison des Collines – Wakefield Foundation in lieu of flowers.
