Dear Richard, Looking across the road, knowing you are no longer there brings a great sadness and an unshakable feeling of loss, of a void, a dull, still and quiet emptiness that has come over the place. I have a heavy heart. Having a good neighbour across the road was a great comfort up here in our neck of the bush. I will miss our long chats at the end of the driveway, hearing the sometimes lively and colourful conversation you would have with your horses when they got a little too spunky, or just hearing the rumble of the tractor as you did your chores.... Knowing there was someone next door who I could count on. The good neighbour with a watchful eye on our place when we were away. The kind neighbour who offered help in times of trouble and wasn’t too proud to accept it when needed. We will miss you very much Richard. There is a great feeling of loss and sadness that our time was cut short, that you where taken so quickly and that there won’t be more stories to be made or shared. I’m as proud a man as any, but I know I will weep the day I drive up and the horses are no longer in the field. You where a very good neighbour. Under that tough and grouchy shell was a kind heart. A good man. Thank you for sharing that with me and my family. you will be sorely missed Richard. Rest is peace good neighbour.
