It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Victoria Dumont-Whiteduck, who passed away peacefully at her cabin on May 21st, 2026, at the age of 75 years.
Vicky was the beloved daughter of the late Ruby Wright and the late Frederick Dumont. She was a loving and devoted mother to Juanita Emmerson (Jason) and Natasha Emmerson. She was a proud grandmother to Shady, Tyler, Sheyanna, Angeleah, and Amyrah, and a cherished great-grandmother to Ayah, Raeyah-Dawn, and Ezra, all of whom brought great joy and meaning to her life.
She will also be deeply missed by her very close friend Ray, whose friendship and companionship meant so much to her.
Vicky was predeceased by her beloved son Troy, as well as her brothers and sisters: Katie, Stanley, and Freddie-Joe, who welcomed her home.
A proud Anishnabe woman, Vicky carried her culture and traditions close to her heart. She remained deeply connected to her roots, the land, and nature throughout her life. She found peace and comfort in the outdoors, where her spirit felt most at home. Her strength, wisdom, and love for her heritage will continue to live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.
She leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, extended family members, and many friends who will fondly remember her kindness, laughter, and the warmth she shared with those around her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Kitigan Zibi Funeral Home on Thursday, May 28th, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A service will follow beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Following the service, family, friends, and community members are invited to gather for a community feast at 207 Kichi Mikan, where all are welcome to come together and remember Vicky’s passage through this journey we call life.
Though she has begun her next journey, Vicky’s spirit will remain in the forests she loved, in the traditions she honoured, and in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Rest peacefully, Vicky. Your journey continues, and your memory will forever be carried forward.
